Phuket – Villa Zolitude Day 3 (daytime) – 21 Feb 2014

We woke up slightly later that day, but still early, about 7? Haha. It was another fantastic sleep! I should have checked out the brand of the mattress they were using!

20140228-103718.jpg
Quite a Paleo breakfast πŸ™‚ I ate many of their super sweet pomelo!

20140228-103819.jpg
I posted this pic on Facebook and Belle said I looked so radiant haha. It’s the filter lah hahaha.

After breakfast we went back to our villa and took a dip in the pool.. Packed our stuff slowly, leisurely.. And waited for the buggy to fetch us to the spa area where we were supposed to meet our personal driver Sak.

And Sak brought us to Phong Phang Restaurant for our seafood lunch.

20140228-103945.jpg
We chose a lobster, a crab and ordered tom yum soup and deep fried prawns with tamarind sauce. The lady who served us knew Mandarin so it helped a lot.

20140228-104647.jpg
And they got free wifi!

20140228-104718.jpg
It was literally by the sea. Very breezy despite the sunny weather.

20140228-104751.jpg
Although it wasn’t much of a view.. Water not very clear also.

20140228-104818.jpg
The restaurant is located in a small road, gotta drive in. It is simply furnished. Apparently this place isn’t very good (I just read tripadvisor)…

20140228-104936.jpg
But when we were there, we didn’t know.. Sak recommended and we jus said okay lor.

20140228-105016.jpg
Shiyun commented that he looked younger in this photo. A holiday that does wonders eh. Haha.

20140228-105130.jpg
My coconut drink that was slightly sour. I asked another waitress if I could change, she said no. Prob because she couldn’t understand me well. The lady who served us earlier came round and asked us how’s the food – I told her about the coconut drink and she got me another one immediately. πŸ™‚ nice!

20140228-105303.jpg
Tom yum soup – not bad! But I prefer the one at Bypass πŸ˜‰

20140228-105347.jpg
Our small black pepper crab – it was delicious! I find it even more tasty than our Singapore black pepper crab coz the gravy has pieces of garlic that made the gravy sooooo yummy. And it being a small crab, the shell was thin and easy to crack open πŸ™‚ superb dish.

20140228-105517.jpg
Our lobster cooked in butter. Not much butter though. Flesh was firm and good! πŸ™‚

20140228-105602.jpg
This was another winner – deep fried prawns in tamarind sauce – crispy, crunchy, and the sauce complimented super well with the prawns! But it attracted a lot of houseflies bleah. And it gave me a pimple too haha.

The meal cost about sgd$100? We were ok with it.. Coz got lobster. But after reading the tripadvisor reviews, now I think we could have gotten a better deal somewhere else haha. Oh well!

I fell asleep on the way to the airport haha, and we bid Sak farewell. I shook his hand and praised him for his great service!!

Here’s his name card, should u need a personal driver when visiting Phuket!

20140228-105858.jpg
He will recommend u places to go, but he won’t push u. Easy going and very polite chap! His car is very comfortable too πŸ™‚

So this marks the end of my Phuket trip posts. My next trip is possibly end of this year – bring the family to Gold Coast. Between now and then, I’ll be embarking on my new career! Maybe (just maybe!) can squeeze in another villa stay after my probation hehe!

Phuket – Villa Zolitude Day 2 (evening time) – 20 Feb 2014

Phuket Indy Market was the night market we visited that night. This market is open every Thursday and Friday, while the main Weekend market (at another area) is open on Saturdays and Sundays.

20140225-122850.jpg
It was filled with Thai students and a handful of tourists. Glad that it felt very local πŸ™‚ I was all ready to attack the food!

20140225-122948.jpg
As it was nearly 7pm, there were throngs of people queueing up for the food already!

20140225-123020.jpg
The food was super cheap, ranging from 20 bhat to 40 bhat. That’s between sgd1-2 dollars!!

We tried this handmade hotdog. Yum.

20140225-123156.jpg
They got tako pachi too!

20140225-123221.jpg
U know how tako pachi has tasted worse and worse in SG?

20140225-123306.jpg
SG ones are filled with starch and very little ingredients.

20140225-123340.jpg
Phuket version of tako pachi. Super gorgeous presentation from a street food stall. Not stingy with the sauce at all and they even give you tissue paper!

They tasted great with the generous servings of the mayo and dunno what sauce. Dribbly soft goodness.

20140225-123518.jpg
Homemade minced pork balls – hubby didn’t like it coz there were veg inside but I totally loved it haha.

20140225-123602.jpg
These were cute little pies with shredded coconut! Delicious and not too overwhelming coz they were tiny πŸ™‚

20140225-123708.jpg
Quail eggs which we didn’t try.. Coz we know how quail eggs taste like… Besides we wanted to eat other stuff πŸ™‚

20140225-123808.jpg
Back to the small coconut pies. The way they made it was such a joy to watch. Both uncle and auntie making these worked in perfect harmony!

20140225-123905.jpg
I’ve got no idea what’s this. They looked too sweet and artificial to seduce us.

20140225-123940.jpg
This had a long queue. We bought this crispy chicken with sticky rice from them. Nice! But we didn’t eat much of the sticky rice… Aka glutinous rice – later indigestion.

20140225-124040.jpg
I bought this spicy chicken salad from this auntie and brought it back to the villa to eat. I tell u, it’s nice but super spicy! I couldn’t go on after half a packet, despite drowning myself in cold beer to try to get rid of the spicy-ness!

Ya I bought only 2 tops from the market (costing sgd$2 each) and we spent the rest of the time queueing for food and devouring them one by one hahaha… Cheap and good!

Phuket – Villa Zolitude Day 2 (daytime) – 20 Feb 2014

We woke up bright and fresh at 6am! In fact i woke up even earlier but went back to sleep some more.. Old Liao – can’t sleep too much!

So we washed up and proceeded to the restaurant for our buffet breakfast, included in the stay.

20140224-221057.jpg
Interior of the restaurant.

20140224-221323.jpg
Selection is not bad!

20140224-221352.jpg
Salad counter, presented very nicely.

20140224-221422.jpg
There’s also an open kitchen that does your eggs πŸ™‚

20140224-221518.jpg
The ambience is perfect for a leisurely breakfast πŸ™‚

20140224-221559.jpg
I ate so many pomelo slices – soooo sweet!

20140224-221636.jpg
There were also other guests having their breakfast too. Most of them are couples. I saw only 1 couple with an infant. Looks like it’s more a honeymoon place πŸ™‚

this trip – I felt truly relaxed.

And after breakfast, we were all ready for our day tour to the neighboring islands πŸ™‚

20140224-222003.jpg
After the transfer to the beach, we got onto a speedboat where it would take us around.. Phi phi island.. Maya beach.. Khai island etc. Our group consists of all kinds of tourists – there was even a group of Korean tourists with their tour guide!

20140224-222148.jpg
After a super choppy and rough 1 hour plus ride, we finally reached the phi ooh island where The Beach was filmed.. Aiyo it was filled with tourists!!

20140224-222253.jpg
No space even for the boats to park.

20140224-222322.jpg
Not much space for people to frolick in the water coz there were too many boats at the shore.

20140224-222407.jpg
Love the waters.

20140224-222439.jpg
And this beach has the finest sand ever! It feels like I’m walking on flour!

20140224-222529.jpg
Taken while on the speedboat.

20140224-222559.jpg

20140224-222620.jpg

Hubby and I also had our first try at snorkeling. Didn’t take pics of that coz we were either busy changing or busy snorkeling! It was an eye opener, although I was super scared.. I’m not a good swimmer and I’ve never swam in deep seawater before.. So I took a few minutes to get my hand off the boat handle lol. I drank quite a bit of seawater too coz I couldn’t get used to breathing through that pipe!

But it was worth a try – seeing those corals and fishes while you are in the sea is indeed very different from seeing them on tv πŸ˜‰

20140224-222915.jpg

20140224-222942.jpg
Nice shot eh? Heeheehee.

20140224-223059.jpg

20140224-223121.jpg
We also went to the monkey place but there were no monkeys in sight. So we headed off for lunch.

20140224-223210.jpg
Massive lunch area catering to all tourists!

20140224-223246.jpg
I was wearing contacts the whole day, thankfully it was not too dry! My eyes siao siao one.

20140224-223337.jpg
Healthy lunch, coz I was wearing bikini, so didn’t wanna be seen with a food tummy haha.

20140224-223416.jpg
Our last stop – khai island. The sand is so crappy stony and rough!

20140224-223505.jpg
Even when we were under the umbrellas, it was still damn hot can.

20140224-223654.jpg

20140224-223732.jpg
Hubby going into the waters

20140224-223801.jpg
See the sand? Very rough!

20140224-223830.jpg
And zero clouds in the sky. I was hiding from the sun as much as I could!

20140224-223917.jpg
Trouble free faces haha.

20140224-223952.jpg
We got back to our speedboat early to hide from the sun Haha. Took this pic at the front side of our boat πŸ™‚

The day tour started at 9plus and ended at 5pm. Seriously, time passed by so fast. The speedboat rides were quite choppy at first but the tour guide explained that it was low tide in the morning hence it was quite rough. They got better in the afternoon.

If I go Phuket again, I won’t do this a second time. Once is good! I can always snorkel somewhere else.

And after our day tour, we headed back to the hotel, freshened up a bit and it was time to visit the night market! That will be next post πŸ™‚

Phuket – Villa Zolitude Day 1 (evening time) – 19 Feb 2014

20140223-142348.jpg
After a wonderful rest in the villa from 2 to 6pm (including drama watching – the first Laughing Gor police drama which we both didn’t catch when it aired), we got the buggy to drive us to the restaurant for our dinner. How nice isn’t it – we felt so pampered πŸ™‚

Actually we just needed to settle our dinner simply in the villa coz we were too lazy to go out and more importantly we wanted to spend more time enjoying the villa. But at about 2 plus in the afternoon, the reception called me and told me that since it was hubby’s birthday, they will arrange us to sit at the private dining area.

When we booked this villa stay, we did not mention hubby’s birthday. When we checked in earlier, we didn’t mention also. The staff must have noticed somehow, that it was his birthday that day and took initiative to arrange all this!

20140223-143134.jpg
The steps leading to the restaurant.

20140223-143202.jpg
But before we headed downwards to the restaurant, we went to the reception to choose a few DVDs to borrow (for free). We chose Jack n Jill (Adam Sandler – hubby’s favourite comedian), About Time (Rachel McAdams) and some Andy Lau movie which we eventually didn’t watch.

20140223-143449.jpg
Beautiful orchids everywhere!

20140223-143518.jpg
We got seated at the private pavilion and ordered 2 frozen lychee margaritas coz it was happy hour 1-for-1!

20140223-143621.jpg
Just the two of us, like we owned the whole place!

20140223-143653.jpg
They also thoughtfully provided mosquito repellent spray which I sprayed on generously haha.

20140223-143746.jpg
The yummy margarita πŸ™‚

20140223-144511.jpg
Starter for both of us – some lightly deep fried meat ball with crispy skin.

20140223-144614.jpg
View from our dining table. There’s the reception!

20140223-151224.jpg
Hubby looked well-rested already lol.

20140223-151303.jpg
We didn’t order some western dining dishes. Instead we ordered a few Thai dishes to share. This was the spicy chicken salad.

20140223-151355.jpg
Popiah.

20140223-151444.jpg
Tom yum soup which was neither spicy nor sour lol. But it was not bad la, just don’t see it as tom yum soup haha.

20140223-151530.jpg
Big grilled prawns – very nice!

20140223-151602.jpg
Phad Thai! It was getting dark as u can see πŸ™‚

20140223-151634.jpg
We were literally bursting but we saw this banana flambΓ© which was just too irresistible.. Haha. And we didn’t regret getting it – it was superb πŸ™‚

And just as we were enjoying the flambΓ©, two staff came along and…

20140223-151727.jpg
Presented hubby with 4 cupcakes with candles, and sang a birthday song for him! We were glad that we were the only table at the private pavilion haha.. It was so sweet of them! And the 4 plain cupcakes haha – they must have sent someone out to buy the cupcakes? Coz the cupcakes looked like they have just been stripped of their paper cups, don’t look like a chef made them? And I thought it was creative to have cupcakes for birthday cake πŸ™‚ simple but so sweet!! Really, the gesture means more than anything, 4 plain cupcakes are better than a fancy expensive cake!

I nearly wanted to walk over to present a birthday kiss but… Was too full. Lol. I really wanna thank Villa Zolitude for this dinner though – it made hubby’s 40th birthday such a good one!

The dinner cost about $100 in total – if u wish to know πŸ™‚

20140223-152306.jpg
We decided to take a walk to digest the heavy dinner. The main pool at night twinkles with sparkling lights!

20140223-152403.jpg
We walked further down to The Library.

20140223-152516.jpg
Interior of the library. Was a bit stuffy since the aircon wasn’t turned on.

20140223-152604.jpg
No we didn’t borrow any. Rather watch shows!

20140223-152645.jpg
Walked down even further, and decided to have a game of pool. Haha! So long never play already, and this was free!

20140223-152746.jpg
We played 2 games in the end and I lost both games. Expected.. Haha. We reached our condo at about 8 plus.. Showered… Got comfortable in the bed and started watching Jack & Jill.

And I was asleep by 11pm. It had been a great first day!

Phuket – Villa Zolitude Day 1 (daytime) – 19 Feb 2014

Hubby and I set off when it was still dark. Got a cab right outside our place and off we went!

We had a crappy breakfast at T2 MacDonalds (incredibly shameful portions) and boarded our Tiger Airways budget flight at about 9am?

20140222-212203.jpg
Cotton candy clouds!

20140222-212315.jpg
Reaching Phuket – the huge endless expanse of the blue blue sea.

Phuket airport was quite a pleasant surprise, with super clean toilets and air conditioned interiors. We got out of customs after half an hour and our personal driver, Sak, was outside the main entrance along with many other personal drivers. And he held a big card saying “Welcome Wendy”. Heehee.

We were supposed to just go get some snacks at 7-11 and head to Villa Zolitude immediately but Sak said if we were hungry (it was about 11am) he could drop us at a restaurant which was along the way to the villa. And so we did πŸ™‚

We were brought to this Bypass Seafood Restaurant which was very near the Premium outlets.

20140222-212405.jpg
Beer on a hot day tasted really good πŸ™‚

20140222-212837.jpg
The birthday boy also happy with his Singha beer.

20140222-212917.jpg
They call this Morning Glory – we call it Kang Kong. Very good! A bit spicy cos they added chilli slices. Crisp and crunchy.

20140222-213039.jpg
This was the best Tom Yum soup I’ve ever tasted through out this trip. Filled with ingredients and the soup was soooo good!!!

20140222-213152.jpg
Thai green curry – another winner – the soup was sweet and thick, also plenty of ingredients!

I went without rice and both of us couldn’t finish everything lor. The portions were big πŸ™‚ we were super satisfied after that.

We asked Sak if we could pop by the premium outlets for an hour before he drives us back to the villa. It was about 1215pm and his next appointment was 3pm. And he said yes!

But sadly, there was nothing very cheap at the premium outlets. There’s nike, Adidas, Ripcurl, billabong, crocs etc but they weren’t super cheap. We ended up getting just 2 tops for Al.

We reached Villa Zolitude finally and were really glad – we couldn’t wait to take a good rest πŸ™‚

20140222-213630.jpg
Sak could only drop us at the main entrance where the spa was. We alighted and took a buggy to the reception which was further up the hill. The driver was very smiley and looked all ready to serve.

20140222-213723.jpg
While in the buggy. Passed by a few villas.. The surroundings were serene and quiet.

20140222-213808.jpg
Main reception lounge area – pretty and peaceful.

20140222-214002.jpg
And when you look out from the lounge.. You see nothing but trees. It’s really quite hidden from the city πŸ™‚

20140222-214218.jpg
To the left of the reception, was the restaurant in the villa. That small pavilion is the restaurant’s private dining area.

20140222-214332.jpg
To the right – pool.. And more trees!

Villa Zolitude is a place where you wanna do nothing but just rest and relax, which was what we did. Usually tourists going Phuket will choose to stay near the beach for the swimming, snorkeling, and fun activities. We went to the hilltop instead.

20140222-214615.jpg
Welcome drink that tasted like ribena.

20140222-214705.jpg
While waiting for our villa to be ready.. There was a telescope (is that the correct name haha) and later that night we realized why there was this telescope. Because at night the sky is super clear and we could see many stars!

20140222-214827.jpg
The spacious lounge area – breezy and relaxing. By the way at Villa Zolitude, there are quite a lot of mosquitoes cos it’s inside a forest. Gotta put mozzie patch at all times. The restaurant also offers repellent spray, the villa itself also has repellent lotion – so no worries!

20140222-215018.jpg
Me me me.

A buggy took us to villa 403, which was at the highest level if I’m not wrong. With all the other “40x”.

20140222-215114.jpg
The interior was exactly what u see in the website. Damn luxurious and gorgeous.

20140222-215847.jpg
This was my favorite part of the villa. The mattress is incredibly comfortable! Just lie down there and two (you and the mattress) will become one lol! The pillows were very cuddly too.

20140222-220051.jpg
On one side of the bed – two chairs which we hardly used. I just plonk myself on the bed everytime.

20140222-220153.jpg
Our forest view. Not much of a view actually. We ended up closing the wooden panels on all sides to have more privacy πŸ˜‰

20140222-220305.jpg
Big and pretty Wash up area.

20140222-220340.jpg
Shower room. Their hot water comes real quickly!

20140222-220424.jpg
Don’t you just love this drape!!

20140222-220525.jpg
Our private pool looking clean. It overlooks the small road. It’s private enough, unless our Neighbour villa decides to lift up their blinds. I didn’t really care though.

20140222-220701.jpg
2 storeys. The main room is on the second storey, the pool and the day bed area is below.

20140222-220801.jpg
The day bed room also has aircon, and an outdoor shower and toilet area. Nice.

20140222-220852.jpg
We didn’t use these at all. Haha.

20140222-220923.jpg
Close up of the day bed. I still prefer the main bed anytime πŸ™‚

20140222-221002.jpg
Plenty of towels for our use.

20140222-221033.jpg
And as I was snapping pics, hubby went and plunged into the pool. Couldn’t wait haha. I didn’t join him. I went for a shower instead!

By the way the pictures I posted above are not edited. Too many, too lazy to edit them.

Next up – our dinner at Villa Zolitude’s restaurant!

No run tonight :(

Am slept later today – it’s past 10pm now and I’m just too tired to run, all thanks to the strenuous double driving lessons this afternoon. That’s the thing about exercising late at night huh – u sometimes are just too exhausted!

I will still run – tomorrow during lunch at my office gym, since I still have access till end of this month πŸ™‚ I’ll just wear my running shoes to work, since Fridays are dress down days!

I’m in the midst of planning for my upcoming trip in Feb 2014 – I’m going Phuket!

20131212-230646.jpg
This is one of the islands (name is Phi Phi Island) I will visit – isn’t it beautiful? I’ll be getting a personal driver for day 2, he’s recommended by my colleague who had just used him last weekend when her family was in Phuket. Yay. Hubby and I will rot in villa and roam around the resort all of day 1, then out all day during day 2 to the islands and visit their night market in the evening, then stay in on day 3 until we go to the airport. Gotta stay in villa more, make full use of the private pool.. Bath tub.. Blah blah blah. πŸ˜‰

Hmm that reminds me.. Where’s my bikini!
