Paleo Diet Day 1

I’ve officially started πŸ™‚

I took a quick walk to NTUC to get my breakfast before work.

bf1

Del Cabo USDA Organic Cherry Tomatoes! Not my favourite, but it’ll have to do. I had about half a box this morning, the other half shall be tomorrow’s breakfast.

I’m surprised that tomatoes are super low in calories! 6 of them – about 30 calories? And I was about to burst already!

bf2

Don’t they just look AWESOME! REAL FOOD PEOPLE!

I had the tomatoes at about 930am and at 12pm, I was hungry. haha. Since I wasn’t going for gym today (I had to make a phone call during lunch), I decided to heat up my lunch!

steamer1

I lugged this device to work today, in the pouring rain. It’s a portable steamer!

and my Paleo lunch was ready in 15minutes πŸ™‚ piping hot. I had this at abt 1230pm. YUMMY. and I was full after this – chicken breast, prawns, mushrooms and an egg. Seasonings added to my chicken were a few dashes of Thai fish sauce and a generous spill of pepper πŸ™‚ and it’s super nice. Wanted to add dark soya sauce to my egg but nah, less salt is good!

So I made a shopping list of food to buy this Saturday morning at NTUC – for my next week’s meals. I need healthy snacks in my office!

YAY. I am starting to love preparing my meals πŸ™‚

Tonight I will be preparing prawn omelette and stir-fried mushrooms & carrots for tomorrow’s lunch. Pics will be up tonight!

Asia Square Food Garden – Manna Korea

Just came back from lunch and i finally had the chance to try Manna Korea! Ordered tofu stew ($8.50) and it came looking quite alright..

as3

I had less than half the rice and slurped up the whole pot of stew, tofu and all. The stew was diluted in comparison to Bibigo’s, and not as spicy. But I loved the minced pork inside (Bibigo served pork belly slices) which went really well with the soup.

Quite okay bah, but i will choose Bibigo’s $14 tofu stew anyday πŸ˜›

My buddy bought Imperial Treasure’s Spicy Dumpling Noodles which looked damn good!

as2

$6.90 for this – quite ok hor? But the noodles screamed “CARBO” so loudly, i didnt dare order it. LOL.

Foodcourt was so crowded man, but seating was comfortable and spacious, quite a nice place to lunch at πŸ™‚

and…back to gym tomorrow πŸ™‚

Short Friday for me! :)

Measurement yesterday: 63.5kg.
Measurement today : 63.0kg.

Today is going to be challenging. We are celebrating Al’s birthday tonight at Din Tai Fung and hence I’ll be eating a rather huge dinner. So I am wondering if I should skip lunch so as not to add to the calories??

If I skip, I may over-eat during dinner.. But knowing me, whether I feel hungry (if I have a lunch) or over-hungry (if I skip lunch), I will eat the same amount during dinner.. So I think I will skip lunch, so I don’t add to the daily amount of calories. I hope tomorrow’s measurement will be kind to me.. :S

I will be spending 2 hours at the driving centre today from 2-4pm, doing trial online tests for Final Theory. And next Friday is the actual test – I need all of your prayers badly!!

Can’t wait to start practical lessons >:)

Midweek cheer!

Midweek is here and today a new staff is joining our department. And so… I’m not going gym today cos we are going out lunch with her! And guess where?

Yes you are right – Bibigo. Wahaha. Sorry I sound really high cos I didn’t sleep last night and I’m kinda delirious now.

Wonder what I’ll have.. Maybe no rice dishes.. Will check out the menu later. And of course, u will see food pics on this blog very soon heehee.

Guess what, I have been weighing myself every morning ever since I started having just soup for dinner, and my weight is slowly but surely going downwards. Today’s weight – 62.9kg!! It was 64 five days ago πŸ™‚ I really should chart a graph man, so I can remember.. Anyone wanna get graph paper for me??

Jiayou jiayou to myself and all who are losing weight too!

And lastly I leave u a photo disaster which I took hurriedly this morning. Hubby and I both look like shit but it’s so hilarious!! I tried to pull hubby in for a quick pic in the lift and he made a face, while I blinked. Haha!

Sunshine Multigrain Bread tastes Great!

I managed to get my new breakfast ingredients on Saturday at NTUC!

And here’s what I brought to office today:

20130923-115533.jpg
Using Sunshine’s Multigrain Bread, picnic ham, cheese slice and garlic herb spread, this is really tasty. The garlic herb spread needs to be spread THINLY so it won’t become too greasy.

20130923-115541.jpg
Bananas as a pre-gym snack at 12 plus. My mum managed to buy these really tiny bananas from Ang Mo Kio Block 628 wet market!

20130923-115548.jpg
Made this Vitamin C drink once I came into office today. Everyone at home is taking turns to fall sick. I’m determined not to become one of them!

After gym later, I will make myself a protein shake and that will last me until 730 pm. If I get hungry in between, I’ll just drink water.

Gotta say to myself- Hunger is just a feeling. Choose to ignore it.

Prata Raya at Thomson Plaza – Food Review

Hubby and I usually have the chance of having breakfast together on Saturdays while we wait for jie jie to finish her morning tuition. If we are sick of the food at Thomson Plaza, we will drive to somewhere else to eat but usually we just settle breakfast there cos we have to buy groceries and whatnots at NTUC later on.

So what’s available at Thomson Plaza in the mornings?
– Prata Raya
– KFC
– Swensons
– food court
– Wang cafe
– Starbucks
– Hans
– Subway

Quite a variety eh? And on weekends, it’s quite crowded cos all the parents like us waiting for kids to finish tuition will have breakfast there too lol.

And so today, hubby and I decided to have prata. In fact we choose prata quite often cos Wang cafe is always full.

20130921-101236.jpg
Their prata is actually quite overpriced I feel. What to do, they are the prata monopoly at Thomson Plaza. So I usually order 2 plain prata for $2, which is the most reasonable. Today hubby ordered 2 plain 1 egg.

20130921-101252.jpg
But I find their service pretty good. It’s always the same staff, 1 PRC order taker, 1 Malay tall chap waiter cum cook, 1 Indian uncle flipping pratas and 1 Chinese auntie clearing plates. All quite nice people. And they have never got our orders wrong before. πŸ™‚

Oh I weighed myself this morning – 1 kg gone from the lack of dinner last night. I’m going to keep up with skipping dinners!!

Paradise Pavilion at Marina Bay Financial Centre – Food Review

My department (4 of us) went to Paradise Pavilion today to celebrate my director and buddy’s birthdays. I’ve been wanting to try out the food here! We were seated by the window at a nice corner table.

20130920-191213.jpg
This is some pickled radish, combination of sweet sour salty with a tinge of spicy.

20130920-191226.jpg
When this came, I immediately thought of Tim Ho Wan. This is obviously an imitation haha. This is smaller though and tasted more delicate I thought, compared to the bigger one at THW. I remember not being able to finish it!

20130920-191243.jpg
A faraway pic of the XO carrot cake. Not impressive although quite tasty. The chilli sauce is nothing to wow about though.

20130920-191254.jpg
Shrimp Chee Cheong Fun. Their prawns were really fresh and juicy, and skin was soooooo soft!

20130920-191303.jpg
Beef done Cantonese style. A tad salty but super tender. It was quite thin to start with πŸ™‚

20130920-191313.jpg
This was something special – handmade fish noodles! Of course this tasted quite different from the usual flour noodles. A tinge of fishy-ness but very QQ springy texture – interesting and tasty. And the scallop added a lot of marks to it haha.

20130920-191322.jpg
This was the usual 3-egg spinach. They were damn generous with the eggs. Simple dish that complemented the entire lunch.

20130920-191331.jpg
This was the STAR of the lunch.

20130920-191341.jpg
I can safely say that this is the best egg custard bun I’ve ever tasted – wins Imperial Treasure hands down. The texture tells u that there was a lot of yolk (slightly sandy texture) and the taste also very “yolkish”. BEST. Very good!

My manager is off on 2 weeks leave next Monday onwards.. Hoping for a quiet fortnight ahead so buddy and I won’t be too busy.

And yes, I’ve started to eat really light dinners. I’m drinking just a bowl of soup with the soup ingredients for dinner. Yesterday night I had a bowl of soup with pieces of lotus root. I got hungry at about 10 but I just ignored it. This morning my tummy was really flat and I wasn’t very hungry too. Hopefully skipping dinner will become a lifestyle. Save money some more. So friends, no more dinner dates!
